As of today, we own the shop.  Eleven months on since that first public meeting in the Lacy Thompson hall, we have achieved the first goal: to have premises in which we can develop the vision of “more than just a shop”.  

Today at noon we signed the contract for the purchase of the shop premises. As soon as we have arranged insurance cover, within a day or two, we can exchange contracts and complete the purchase.

I think it is now safe to say that on 29 October we were awarded £70,000 by the National Lottery Fund under the Power to Change scheme. Last night the Farlam Parish Trust handed us a cheque for £13000 – the grant they had promised us back in March on condition we could raise the purchase price for the shop – which we have now done!

Committee meeting last night, important meeting with Power to Change potential funding body today, solicitors hammering out the fine detail of the contract, shop redesign under intense discussion, business plan polished up, everyone’s buying shares – and you thought it had all gone quiet? No way!

The Hallbankgate Fete will be at the school, 12 till 3pm on Saturday 4th July. There will also be an Open Evening for people interested in volunteering their time and/or investing in the Hub project, in the village hall from 7.30 pm on Tuesday 7th July.

We will have a stall at the Hallbankgate village school fete this Saturday 4 July, where you will be able to pick up a copy of the share prospectus inviting everyone to invest in the future of our shop.
