Why not volunteer?
Hallbankgate Hub is owned and controlled by the community through the Community Benefit Society Hallbankgate Hub Ltd. As well as being a place to buy food and groceries the intention from the very beginning of the project has been to use the premises as a Hub for other services and a place to meet.
We employ a Shop Manager and a team of volunteers supports her to deliver a service to fit collective needs. This ensures that the community can benefit from the range of skills and abilities the people of Hallbankgate and neighbouring villages offer.
Along with helping run the Hub, individual volunteers can derive a plethora of personal benefits:
- Feel great for making Hallbankgate and the local area better
- Have a sense of purpose and belonging to the community
- Enjoy the camaraderie
- Meet new people who live locally who they have not met before
- Learn new skills
- Use their skills to help others learn
- Inspire other people to help at the Hub too
- Gain work experience for their CV
Our volunteers are integral and valued part of the Hub enterprise and help create a happier community for Hallbankgate and surrounding villages. Things simply could not happen without them. We want to say a big Thank You! to all our current volunteers and would love to welcome anybody else who wishes to join the team. There are plenty of opportunities to put your mark on this venture and a variety of tasks to get involved in.
If you would like to volunteer, please drop by the Hub and speak to Torrey, our manager, or any of the current team, then fill out the Volunteer Application Form and Volunteer Agreement and you are ready to start. Please make sure you acquaint yourself with our Volunteer Policy and Staff Handbook.
